Commissioners’ Corner

Bruce Boyle

With 2015 in full swing we are pleased to recognize the success that the Council, the Districts and our units achieved in 2014 earning their respective Journey to Excellence awards.    We will maintain our focus on continuous improvement with full support from your Commissioner Team.  We have launched a new computer system called Commissioner Tools designed to help the Commissioner Team work with units to deliver a quality program in line with the Vision and the Mission of the Boy Scouts of America.   The Team also hosted a College of Commissioner Science in January, and is planning the annual Commissioner Conference in August with the goal of improving our Commissioner capabilities and skills. We will continue to recruit additional Unit Commissioners (see the Becoming a Commissioner tab, right here on the site!) and look to better support our units. Your Commissioner is a friend to the unit, so please be sure to welcome them warmly.  They’re there to help bring any district or council resources needed to support our units and youth.

Yours in Scouting,
Bruce Boyle
SKC Council Commissioner

Ready to share your knowledge of Scouting and your enthusiasm for helping prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law?  Perhaps the youth you’ve guided through Scouting are crossing over to Boy Scouts or leaving the program as Eagle Scouts?  Then we want you!

Each of the Simon Kenton Council’s approximately 600 Scouting units need someone to visit them;  to help them through questions and problems;  and to help ensure that every unit delivers the promise of Scouting to our youth.

To find out more on how to become a BSA Commissioner, review the SKC Commissioner Brochure or contact any commissioner listed on the “Commissioner Team” tab here at this web site!

We can’t wait for you to join us!

The Simon Kenton Council Commissioner Team

Simon Kenton Council’s commissioner team is a group of Council and District volunteer leaders whose duty is to help Scout units and leaders succeed.  They coach and consult with adult leaders of Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Varsity Teams, Venturing Crews, and Sea Scout Ships, to help maintain the standards of the Boy Scouts of America.  Commissioners also oversee the unit charter renewal process so that each unit re-registers on time with an optimum number of youth and adult members.
