SUMMARY:2024 Wilderness First Aid
DESCRIPTION:The Wilderness First Aid course provides an intensive 18+ hours of training covering injury assessment\, rescuer safety\, bleeding\, shock\, orthopedic injuries\, long term patient care\, and treatment with materials at hand during practice sessions. \nWhen you are participating in outdoor activities that take you more than 1 hour away from medical care\, wilderness first aid provides a significant difference in survival and effects of injuries. \nThe cost for the Wilderness First Aid course is $100 per person and you must attend both days from 8AM to 6PM each day. EACH STUDENT IS REQUIRED TO BRING THEIR BACKPACK PACKED FOR LAND BASE OUTDOOR ADVENTURES. BRING LUNCH\, SNACKS\, DRINKS\, AND BE PREPARED TO BE OUTDOORS (no matter what the weather.) \nInstruction is in a classroom setting with some sections held outdoors\, so please plan accordingly and dress for the weather. \nCertification includes:\nWilderness First Aid – 2 year\nCPR\AED – Adult\Child and Infant – 2 year \nThis course is a requirement for units traveling to a BSA National High Adventure such as Philmont\, Northern Tier\, SeaBase\, Summit or participating in some high adventure activities when medical help may be delayed. \nParticipants MUST be 14 years of age or older in order to participate\, at the time of the course! \nCourse is limited to 20 participants (first come first serve). \nNO REFUNDS! \nQuestions? We will need help in all areas to assist our new members on their voyage through the Order of the Arrow. \nWould you like to seal your membership in the OA by taking your Brotherhood? You can do it here for just an additional $25.00. If you took your Ordeal in 2023 or before you’re eligible. \nIf you are a new member that took your Ordeal in 2024 and would like to return to help at another ordeal this year\, you can do so for free. Just choose “OA New Member who took their ordeal this year” on the next page. It will be the last choice in the registration type menu.  \nIf you are a new candidate you MUST complete the written Candidate Registration Form which was mailed to you (or it is available from the Attachments box located to the right of this notice) and either mail it in at least 7 days before the event or bring it with you to the event.
