CANCELLED – 2022 Leave No Trace Trainer Course

September 9, 2022 @ 6:00 PM - September 11, 2022 @ 11:00 AM

2022 Leave No Trace Trainer Course

Who: Scouts BSA (14 years of age and over), Venturers, Adult Leaders/Advisors, Residence Camp staff, Leadership Training staff, and Unit Commissioners.

What: Participants in this two-day, 16-hour Trainer Course will learn: the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace; how to demonstrate and teach minimum impact techniques; how to lead outdoor ethics discussions and help others explore their own personal outdoor ethic; and, how to conduct Leave No Trace Awareness Workshops. This course is a formal “Leave No Trace Trainer” course under the guidelines of the BSA and Leave No Trace. Successful completion of the course entitles participants to be recognized as a Leave No Trace Trainer and, if desired, to be listed on the national database of Leave No Trace Trainers. Most of the training will be held outdoors.

Why: Learning the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace, provides an easily understood framework of minimum impact practices for anyone visiting the outdoors. Although Leave No Trace has its roots in backcountry settings, the Principles have been, and continue to be, adapted so that they can be applied anywhere — from remote wilderness areas, to local parks and even in your own backyard.
