Parker Reese drove past a defaced bridge in his community and realized that he could help beautify the area by removing the distasteful graffiti through his Eagle project.
“I see the bridge when I drive pretty much anywhere. I decided to take care of [the graffiti] for my neighbors and community,” said Parker.
Using the leadership and communication skills he developed in Scouting, Parker organized a team consisting of people in his neighborhood and four fellow Scouts to help prepare for his project. Parker and his team removed trash, weeds, and overgrowth from the area before power- washing, priming, and painting the concrete. They were able to protect the surface from future graffiti by applying Graffiti Melt solution.
“I hope my project impacts the families around the bridge. I’ve already received a lot of positive feedback from neighbors and others in my community,” said Parker.
With his Eagle project completed, Parker is “extremely excited” to become an Eagle Scout and shared that he’s been looking up to older Scouts who have earned the rank of Eagle and they’ve motivated him.
“Reaching the achievement of Eagle is a great thing, but the best part of Scouting are the lessons you learn and the memories you make with friends that can last a lifetime.”
